Hello Delia,
You mean gender stereotyping? Well, it is actually quite common to steriotype even if it's not the right thing. The reason why it is so easy is because we are so used to it. Through out the course of our lives we have learned to stereotype from TV, music, our parents, school, etc. I was actually quite surprised to see a man nurse, he was hot! Most stereotypes are false, so try not to call the human race by men, or God by He.

Hope I helped, Take care Delia.

yes sonia! gender stereotyping is correct and it has been implemented so good that we have a word for sister brother but cousin? many people say cousin and they think boy for some reason unlike the spanish words are "prima" and "primo" cousin we often have to ask ourselves boy or girl? we should make up a different word to differentiate=]

gender stereotyping is so true. but so wrong. we all do it even if you do not realize it. when we are little we say most likely a doctor would be a man, and a nurse would be a woman even though we know jobs can be filled by any gender. its just the way society is and seems that it always will be...i say it all the time like when im with my friendslike come on GUYS haha even though we are all girls.

The three people above me are correct gender stereotyping is so common now a days that no one even notices. I do notice that i also do this, when someone says a word like doctor or even policeman i have a mental image of a man. But there are a lot of woman that take this position as well. There has to be some conditioning that takes part in this stereotyping. One thing that is required at my sisters job is that whenever they are about to call a person something it has to relate with both a man and a woman. For example they use police officer instead of policeman, they are also not even able to use mailman. I think something like this should take place among us all to change this stereotype.
