Some strategies that can be used when solving a problem are the trial and error strategy(trying until you are successful at getting an answer), information retrieval(trying to remember how that problem had been solved before), hill climbing(process that gets you closer to the solution step by step), these are just a few of the many strategies there are for problem solving.

also working backwards can help solve a problem especially if the goal has more information than that given and when the operations involved can work in two different directions.
