When little kids learn a language, the can hear the difference between "Donate the book" and "Give the book." To them, "giving a book" sounds natural and "donating a book" sounds odd. Why is this, if children are accostumed to hear various sentence structures, and they are not corrected when speaking ungramatically?

hello selene, unless children are neglected, they are corrected a lot when they are learning how to talk and as they learn new vocabulary and put a different connotation to each word. Therefore giving the book might mean to them picking it up and giving it to their mother to put away while donating it might mean never seeing it again. Im not sure if i answered your question the way you wanted but i hope it helped. See you later!
By the way im sonia its just that i cant get my password right...
