The difference between field dependent and field independent is that a field dependent learner is a person who learns best by using examples and field independent is when a person is less affected by criticism and uses hypothesis-testing approach to attain concepts.

Another way to look at it is that a person who is field dependent looks at a something as a whole, whereas a field independent person looks at individual things :]
